Babylon Translation Community is your place to ask and answer questions related to translation, grammar and writing style. In short: it is all about sharing and helping each other. Together let us strive to put our thoughts into words, and to give the words the meaning they deserve. A lively and stimulating exchange of thoughts and words is what this community is all about.

Yes, certainly! We all need help sometimes, don’t we? You may ask questions related to all languages available in the community. Please note that you must sign up in order to ask questions, so that you will get updates when your question is answered.
Can anyone reply?
Yes, as long as a question correlates to the languages you have chosen. You have no permission to answer a question in a language that is not marked in your profile.
Why should I register?
Only as a registered member of our Babylon Translation Community you will be able to submit questions, and may rate the answers of other members and report abuse. Only this way you will also get updates when your question is answered.
How can I add languages to my profile?
Easy! Use the “Select languages” feature in the Profile Overview (box shown on every page at the top right corner) or go to the “My Profile” page. Keep in mind these should be the languages you can communicate in at or near mother tongue level.
How do the languages I have chosen influence my view of the community?
The questions that will be shown to you are directly related to the languages you have chosen. You will not see questions in other languages.
How do I browse between different questions?
There are many ways to see what is going on in the community: In the “Recent Questions” window you can browse the questions using the “Back” and “Forward” arrows. Same can be done in the “Answer” window. Top questions and answers are displayed inside a slider in the “Home” window. If you are looking for specific content, you can use “Search”. You will receive the results of a full text search for the search term you entered.
What type of answers are the ones placed in a light yellow box?
Answers that are placed in a light yellow box are answers received from Professional Translators.
Translators who have been approved by the Babylon Human Translation Service are the only ones who can become Pro Translators in the Community.
What does the level stand for?
As a free and friendly exchange of people’s curiosity and knowledge we want you to feel right at home. The rating and levels to be achieved are simply meant to give you a feeling of your own progress. At the same time other community members get to know you better and learn to appreciate you and vice versa.
In addition to the Guest level, we introduced five member levels to give a simple indication of your commitment to the community:
1. Newbie
2. Junior
3. Tutor
4. Ace
5. Guru
Here are the levels in detail:
Guest: This is the basic level, after you arrived and remained unregistered. As a Guest you cannot ask questions but only give answers. When signing up you will also receive updates when your question is answered.
Newbie: You will reach our Level 1 right after registering with the community. Now you have the opportunity to ask up to 5 questions per day, or 50 in total. You may give answers, rate answers of other members and report abuse.
You will stay on this level until you gathered 100 points for your activities.
Junior: Since you have been fairly busy in your activities you have reached Level 2. Here too you can ask up to 10 questions per day, 60 in total. You may give answers, may rate the answers of other members and report abuse.

Who is marked as a Spammer?
Members are being marked for abusing our community in cases of hidden advertisement, usage of profane language, vandalism, hooliganism, racism and the like. It needs three members that raised the “Spammer/Abuse” flag on a user to set his/her status to Spammer.
Spammers have no longer permission to ask questions or give answers and therefore cannot participate any more in any way in the community.
If you feel that you were marked wrongly as a Spammer, please feel free to contact us.
